Edmonton (If we spoke to cities) If we spoke to cities Like we would speak to a friend Reminiscing of old times Catching up with them Writing a letter or a poem Into a verse of a song You could sing in the open air Like a prayer This is my letter to The city of Edmonton on the North Saskatchewan Festival city City of Champions Have you ever seen such a sight as her skyline against those Northern lights That’s my city The city of Edmonton The sun barely rising in the east Our tiny country home bursting at the seams Nearing Christmas time The air was alive I remember a crisp new dress And my favorite tights Got to wear my shoes with the butterfly clasp To the city we’re off To the city we’ll go Gonna see Santa Clause Maybe catch a show In the City of Edmonton On the North Saskatchewan Festival city City of Champions A darker day was spent much the same No Santa Clause but lots of summer rain That evening ride, such a storm We pulled to the side of the road and prayed While the sky rolled black I was so afraid That was the day-Black Friday For my city I cried for the lives that were lost That dark black day-July ‘87 Eighty-seven (green and gold, copper and blue eighty seven we all pulled through) X Now I think of the Cree and Blackfoot nations Setting eyes on your trading stations What filled their hearts Crossed their minds Gateway to such Northern parts Boats full of furs and gold miners carts A time traveler I’d love to be For down your dirt streets I’d stroll On the ferry I’d ride See where the buffalo roamed Maybe wear a beaver hide In the City Edmonton on the North Saskatchewan Festival city City of Champions If we spoke to cities like we would Speak to a friend Speak to a friend

Come Alive 04:46
Come Alive That place on your chest where your heart beats and rests I will lay down I will lay down That fire that’s inside blends with mine burning eyes wide These eyes are wide Promises soaking in like Rain on dry, dry earth Like aloe on skin that’s burned Like sunshine in the spring Melting all the ice away Promises soaking in like Rain Those silent lies that would blind That remind I cut those lines down Power lines down This new light in your eyes fills my skies we’re alive with our eyes wide These eyes are wide Promises soaking in like Rain on dry, dry earth Like aloe on skin that’s burned Like sunshine in the spring Melting all the ice away (And all those dead things they can just come alive When we lean ourselves on our life line) x Promises soaking in like Rain Like Rain Soaking in like Rain Soaking in like Rain You can just Come alive you can say, say Come Alive You can just come alive you can say, say, say come alive You can just come alive you can say, say, say come alive You can just come alive you can say,say Come Alive (And all those dead things they can just come alive When we lean ourselves on our life line) x Promises soaking in like Rain (Soaking in like Rain) x

Need To Say 03:59
Need To Say (You need to know) x I need to say I’ve been selfish with my time Attentions been self centered Been stingy with my words Lacking actions of affection You need to Know You need to hear it You need to feel That I care I’ve been waiting for a sign Hoping, praying, giving time Trusting that one day soon This love I receive back from you And I can see it in your eyes Distance grows, less the try Sometimes we’re cruelest to the ones we love the most I don’t know why Don’t know why You need to Know You need to hear it You need to feel That I care You know I think of you often And I really need to take the time To speak my mind You need to Know You need to hear it You need to feel That I care You need to know You need to know You need to know I need to say

Wool in the Spindle Feeling scared, tied up too tight Feeling nervous, storm in the night Hands are cold, feet gone numb Wool in the spindle Spindle did spun oh Train on the tracks, plane on the air Toes in the grass, this carnival and fair All these voices, crowding my mind Distance church bells; tell of where I’ve been Oh Feeling cold, yeah that’s what you say Feeling tied up, like the ships at the bay And your feeling frightened at what’s far away Don’t you fret it This moon she won’t stay My life’s a Train, its on the tracks My life’s a Plane, it’s on the air And all these voices Crowding my brain All these church bells Tell of where I’ve been Oh Committed to, who I want to be These planes these trains This clock tower tames The moon she pulls She pulls on the sea This moon she pulls She pulls on me This moon she pulls She pulls on me

Put a little Faith Limits undone, there will be Weariness gone when you Wake up full of dreams in the morning Limits undone weariness gone when you wake up full of dreams in the morning Faith is the substance of things we cant see put a little faith, put a little faith, plant it like a seed, plant it like a seed Wonder happens when you wonder how it happened (Put a little faith, put a little faith, plant it like a seed, plant it like a Seed) x Well now Billy Is going crazy And his families given up on him But maybe, just maybe A little faith is all it’d take to rescue him Faith is the substance of things we can’t see Put a little faith, put a little faith Plant it like a seed Plant it like a seed Wonder happens when we wonder how it happened Put a little faith, put a little faith Plant it like a seed Plant it like a seed Husband you said that you loved me an I was the only one for you But lately, you got no time for me Does that mean all those things you said were not true Faith is the substance of things we can’t see Put a little faith, put a little faith Plant it like a seed Plant it like a seed Wonder happens when we wonder how it happened (Put a little faith, put a little faith Plant it like a seed Plant it like a seed) x So now you’re working three jobs Just to pay all the loans You’ve acquired in your quest of keeping up with the Jones And you’re feeling kind of heavy So far away Far away from the life you dreamed about Faith is the substance of things we can’t see Put a little faith, put a little faith Plant it like a seed Plant it like a seed Wonder happens when you wonder how it happened Put a little faith, put a little faith Plant it like a seed Plant it like a seed X Limits undone Weariness gone when you wake up full of dreams in the morning Limits undone weariness gone When you wake up full of dreams You wake up full of dreams Wake up full of dreams In the morning

One Day 03:38
One Day Trapped inside Locked in this snow globe God it’s so cold Lord I can’t believe the sight It’s just a cul-de-sac of hatred that this world cannot hide One day I’ll fly away Over cities and the seas mountains and the trees and oh and I One day I’ll fly away Truth is a flame that flickers bright Even in the night (Men’s Oh’s) I can’t run no I can’t hide It tracks me from the inside Maybe I should stand up and fight But I’m stuck out in here Behind this Plexiglas of fear One day I’ll fly away Over cities and the seas mountains and the trees and oh and I One day I’ll fly away Truth is a flame that flickers bright Even in the night (Men’s Oh’s) If you never look you’ll never know, the reasons, the reasons From far away I can see so clearly How much my pride Hoe much my pride has done for me One day I’ll fly away Over cities and the seas mountains and the trees and oh and I One day I’ll fly away Truth is a flame that flickers bright Even in the night

Simple and Sacred It’s a late August evening Sunlight still filling the sky The birds they scatter as I pedal by and the breeze sings me a lullaby It’s these moments when my heart feels so thankful That teach me a little of life It can be painful yet pleasant And beautiful If I open up my eyes It’s the Simple and the sacred that make me feel alive Find I’m breathing deep and life is so sweet every time your love looks on me Now even in early December That north wind can cut to the bone Snowdrifts are high and firewood needs cutting and these snowflakes fill My eyes Oh still simple and can become sacred if we would only try Fire crackling in the evening time Warm hands of people we love It’s these moments when my heart feels so thankful That teach me a little of life It can be painful yet pleasant And beautiful If I open up my eyes It’s the Simple and the sacred that Makes me feel alive Find I’m breathing deep and life is so sweet every time you smile at me It’s the simple and the sacred That makes me feel alive Find I’m breathing deep and life is so sweet every time your love looks on me The simple can become the sacred If we would only open our eyes To see the beauty that surrounds us And the glory that fills the skies

Sing from your heart All this time we’ve been going wrong Wrong way Wrong angle Wrong direction We’ve been trying too hard What we still need to do is Sing from the heart Oh sing from the heart Just sing from your heart All this talk of what we got to do We don’t got to do it Oh its true cause all these things that make this world turn They make it burn You know its up to you You know its up to you Just sing from your heart We all do the same things every day working hard hours harder to get the pay and what happened to the dreams you say Well they just ran away When you got shy they ran away (Sing from your heart) x We all do the same things every day working hard hours harder to get the pay and what happened to the dreams you say Well they just ran away When you got shy they ran away When you got shy they ran away
